What Is Adverse Action?
This is a two-step notification process required under the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA).
- Starting with A Pre-adverse Action Notice: Typically in writing to inform you that the employer is considering taking adverse action against you. This will include a copy of your background check A Summary of Your Rights Under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
- Ending with a Final Adverse Action Notices: You will typically have 7 days between the pre and final adverse action notice, which will be the time that you review the provided background check and have the ability to dispute any inaccurate or incomplete information.
